According to the World Bank’s latest global report, which monitors progress in the segment of digital transformation in 198 economies of the world, Serbia ranks 11th in the world and 4th in Europe, reports eKapija.
In the report, Serbia is included in group “A”, that is, in the group of global leaders in digital transformation, both in relation to the value of the “maturity of digital management” composite index and in relation to each individual.
Serbia has advanced by 40 places on the list compared to 2020 and is in first place in the region, but also ahead of Austria, Spain, Germany, Great Britain and many other highly developed countries.
The World Bank says that, since 2017, Serbian PM, Ana Brnabić, has prioritized digital transformation by providing human and financial resources to implement a far-reaching vision. She once said that her mission is to reform public administration, roll out e-government and make government services available to citizens 24/7.
“Digital transformation is the greatest driver of productivity increases in the public sector, meaning effective and efficient, high-quality, and low-cost public services are widely accessed by citizens. Automated decision-making systems, software robots, artificial intelligence or machine learning, data-driven policies, greater collaboration and integration can all create system-wide efficiencies”, the World Bank notes.
