Russia’s Yandex to open a development centre in Serbia – Jobs for 800 people

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met with the representatives of the Russian IT company Yandex, which announced the opening of the company’s development centre in Serbia, which will employ over 800 engineers who will work on the latest IT solutions, the Government of Serbia has announced.

At the meeting with the Yandex delegation, led by the head of the international policy department Maksim Kozlov, it was agreed to continue talks and improve cooperation in the field of education, given that the company, in addition to creating software, is engaged in IT education.

Brnabic pointed out that the Government is open to cooperation and ready to provide help and support to global IT companies that open research centers in Serbia and employ IT experts.

Russian IT company, Luxoft, which employees are 85 percent Russian, also opened a branch in Belgrade on Friday.

Since the beginning of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, i.e. the implementation of Western sanctions against Russia, a large number of Russian IT experts and companies have moved to Serbia in order to continue their work.
