Russian discount supermarket chain Svetofor to open additional 22 stores

The Russian supermarket discount chain, Svetofor, currently has 18 stores in Serbia and plans to open 22 more by the end of 2023, Nova Ekonomija reports.

Svetofor is a member of the Russian group Torgservis, which operates in Serbia via two independent companies: Beltorg (Svetofor markets) and Ros Produkt Servis Beograd (MERE markets). The latest stores were opened in the second half of February in Belgrade, Čačak, Kikinda and Trstenik.

Svetofor opened its first stores in Serbia in Subotica and Kruševac in February last year.  According to the company, “the first year of operations in Serbia was all about development, testing and understanding the market, collecting statistical data, analyzing indicators and monitoring customer needs.”

Also, Svetofor has closed two stores in Serbia – the first store was destroyed in a fire and the second was closed because of its inadequate location which resulted in the store being unprofitable.
