The Russian government has approved a draft agreement with Serbia on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, according to an announcement on the official website of Russia’s Federal Assembly.
The document provides for bilateral cooperation across various space-related fields, including space exploration, space medicine, remote sensing of the Earth, satellite systems, space meteorology, and other areas.
The two sides plan to establish the necessary conditions for launching and operating spacecraft, carrying out joint scientific projects, and exchanging technology, expertise, and material resources.
Furthermore, the agreement allows for specific deals and contracts to be concluded to deliver joint projects in the space sector.
The agreement will remain in force for ten years, with provision for automatic five-year extensions.
The state corporation Roscosmos has been designated as the competent executive authority on the Russian side.
According to Parliamentary Newspaper (Parlamentskaya Gazeta), the official publication of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Moscow and Belgrade signed an economic cooperation programme for the 2026–2031 period in April.
During the talks, a broad range of topics was discussed, including energy, innovation, artificial intelligence, creative industries, science, education, and the environment. Particular emphasis was reportedly placed on cooperation between Russian and Serbian regions.
