Renovated wing of Clinical Centre of Serbia still not opened

Although the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, officially opened the renovated wing of the Clinical Centre of Serbia on February 27 and announced, on the occasion, that the wing would take the first patients following week, the facility is still under construction and not ready to take in patients as yet.

The Clinical Centre’s renovated wing was pompously inaugurated, although it is still not finished. At the opening ceremony, in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, it was announced that the first patients would be received after a week; eight days have passed since that promise and there is no trace of the patients.

Instead of doctors and patients, Nova’s journalists found only rubble, painters and other construction workers. President Vučić said at a recent press conference that the Clinical Centre’s doctors had personally asked him to open the renovated hospital sooner, but it is not clear on what that optimism was based.

Also, Nova’s reporters were not allowed to enter the building with the explanation that the works are not finished: “The works are in progress, I do not know how you plan to enter”, said the doorman at the hospital’s entrance.
