E-registration of companies in two years’ time

In the next two to three years, there could be an option of electronic registration of companies in Serbia which would reduce business costs between 20% and 30%. However, in order for this option to become available, the state needs to acquire new software that would facilitate it.

The first change in that direction, as stipulated in the new Company Law, is the authorities accepting e-signature as a valid form of signing documents.

“Electronic registration would definitely reduce business costs for companies. We have estimated that registering a company electronically would be between 20% and 30% cheaper than doing it in paper”, says Dusan Vuckovic, assistant to Economy Minister.

In order for people to be able to electronically register their companies, change companies’ HQ or the name of company director, as well as any other information that is contained in the business registry, the government first need to acquire new software.

The changes and supplements to the Company Law should be forwarded to the Parliament for a debate by the year end. Also, there are changes made to the regulation about compulsory liquidation of companies, forced purchase of shares, reduction of share capital of limited liability companies and protection of the rights of minority shareholders that will also be sent to the Parliament.
