The Logistics Consortium Plenum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in coordination with representative road transport associations from Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, has announced that joint regional protests by the transport sector will begin on 14 September at border crossings heading into European Union (EU) member states.
According to the Consortium, the protests are being organised due to the lack of a concrete and sustainable solution to the problem of the stay limit for professional drivers from the Western Balkans within the Schengen Area, which is currently capped at 90 days within any 180-day period.
The Consortium stated that drivers continue to face detention, deportation, entry bans, and other consequences stemming from the enforcement of existing rules, highlighting that this is severely impacting the operations of transport companies and broader supply chains.
