Real growth of Serbian GDP 2.9% in the second quarter

Serbia’s real gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the second quarter of 2019 was 2.9% compared to the same period last year, according to the State Statistical Office.

According to the seasonally adjusted data, the GDP grew by 1.2% in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter.

Real and significant growth was recorded in the construction sector (16.8%), in the information and communication sector (8.2%), in the wholesale and retail trade, in the repair of motor vehicles, transport, storage, accommodation and food services (5.1%).

In terms of GDP aggregates, real growth was recorded for all sources during the quarter compared to the same period of the previous year.

Household consumption expenditure increased by 3.2%, consumption expenditure of non-profit institutions providing services to households (NPID) increased by 2.6%, public expenditure by 2.4%, gross investment in fixed capital by 8.6%, exports of goods and services by 9.1% and imports of goods and services by 10.9%.
