Production of Fiat 500L: New setback

The production and assembly lines in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Serbia have been stopped again. This time, as FCA Serbia reports, they will remain inactive until 30th November, following which the production of all FIAT 500L  will start again in two shifts, during which up to 450 completed cars a day are produced.

The reason for the new halt, the second or the third one since this summer’s cancellation of one of the three shifts and layoffs of several hundred surplus workers, is, once again, reduced foreign demand for Kragujevac factory’s only model – Fiat 500L – predominantly on the American market.

In 2016, FCA Serbia will produce a little over 70,000 cars, which is three times less than its installed capacities and five times less than its projected capacities, as the cancellation of one shift has greatly reduced the production plan. Since most of this year’s plan for the production of Fiat 500L cars has already been realized, new halts can be expected before the end of the year.
