The pro-European opposition parties, which technically organized Serbia against Violence civil protests, will today submit a request to the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to call for snap parliamentary and Belgrade elections.
Last night, the Democratic Party (DS) announced that the protest organizers will submit a request to the President to call parliamentary and Belgrade elections at noon today.
The press release states that, following the submission or the request, a press conference will then be held in front of the Presidency of Serbia building.
The DS, Ekološki Ustanak, Zeleno- levi Front/Ne Davimo Beograd, Zajedno – Moravo and parliamentary caucuses Narodni Pokret Srbije – Novo Lice Srbije and Pravac Evropa are listed as the protest organizers.
The Pravac Evropa parliamentary group consists of Stranka Slobode i Pravde, Pokret Slobodnih građana, Pokret za Preokret and the Sloga Trade Union.
The Serbia against violence protests began first in Belgrade and then throughout Serbia after two mass murders on May 3 and 4 respectively in the Belgrade school Vladislav Ribnikar and in the villages near Mladenovac and Smederevo.
