The Serbian premiere of the Hollywood-Serbian action science fiction film “Gospodar Oluje” (The Lord of The Storm) is scheduled for 7 April at the MTS Dvorana in Belgrade, after which regular cinema distribution across Serbia will begin on 9 April.
According to the organisers’ statement, the film has brought together a successful American and regional film crew led by Hollywood film professional Neb Čupin, as well as directors and screenwriters Zoran Lisinac and Domagoj Mazuran.
The film’s plot is inspired by the childhood of its producer and the creator of the idea around which the film’s imaginative world was built – Neb Čupin, who also appears in the cast. The main character of the film, whom we follow first as a boy and later as a justice-seeking young man searching for a way out of the oppressive world of Argos, surrounded by an eternal Storm, is named Neb – just like its creator.
One of the key narrative lines of the film is the relationship between the young hero Neb and his grandfather, portrayed by the renowned Scottish actor James Cosmo, which is directly inspired by Čupin’s childhood and his relationship with his grandfather Božo.
Speaking previously about the film, Neb Čupin said that it is full of special effects and action scenes.
“My life, especially my childhood growing up with my grandfather in Dalmatia, was the complete inspiration for the film. However, the script evolved into something more, more entertaining and more commercial. We moved into an imagined apocalyptic science fiction world where two young people search for the truth about the origin of their existence and make a promise to themselves. Although the film is full of special effects, action scenes and is exciting to watch, that original family relationship between the grandson and the grandfather and their bond has remained. We preserved tradition, habits and the integrity of the family, which was extremely important to me,” Čupin emphasised.
The follows the daring journey of two young rebels from an island who, three centuries after the Great Flood, defy fate determined to break through the wall of the eternal Storm, step into the forbidden and unknown, and uncover the truth about the origin of their world – a secret carefully guarded for centuries by the immortal rulers of Argos, the mysterious Founders.
In addition to the aforementioned James Cosmo (Game of Thrones), the cast also includes several international stars such as Caroline Goodall (Schindler’s List), Marco Ilsø (Vikings) and Sara Sofie Boussnina (Dune: Sisterhood).
Alongside them, we will also see well-known names from the regional acting scene on the big screen – Goran Bogdan, Sergej Trifunović, and Ivana Dudić.
