Pilar Miro’s films to be shown at Spanish film festival in Belgrade

The film festival, Spanish Metre, will be held in Belgrade’s Yugoslav Film Archive and Belgrade Culture Centre (Kulturni Centar Beograda) from 15th to 27th May and will showcase films from the Spanish speaking area – Spain, Argentina, Columbia, Mexico and Peru.

This year’s edition of the festival, organized by the Cervantes Institute in Belgrade, begins with the screenings of the cult films directed by the famous Pilar Miro, one of several women who marked Spanish cinema in the second half of the 20th century. The Yugoslav Film Archive will screen six of her films in the period from 15th to 17th May – ‘Beltenebros’, ‘El Pajaro de la Felicidad’, ‘Your Name Poisons My Dreams’, ‘Gary Cooper, Que Estas en Los Cielos’, ‘The Dog in the Manger’, and ‘Hablamos Esta Noche’.

From 18th to 20th May, there will be screenings of the films directed by female directors from the countries of the Spanish speaking area. The segment is called “Women’s Corner”. The main portion of the Festival will be held at the Hall of the Belgrade Culture Centre from 23rd to 27th May.
