Number of issued building permits jumped in August

Building permits issued in Serbia rose 12.3% year-on-year to 2 877 in August 2023.

Out of the total number of permits issued, 83.5% related to buildings, and 16.5% to civil engineering constructions. When only buildings are concerned, 84.5% of permits related to residential buildings, and 15.5% to non–residential ones, while regarding civil engineering constructions the largest number related to pipelines, communication and electric power lines (69.3%)

Real estate developers registered the construction of a total of 3,777 apartments in August, with the average size of an apartment being 76.3 square metres.

Out of the total number of apartments in new residential buildings, 10.9 percent will be built in buildings with one apartment, spanning 147.6 square metres on average.

87.9 percent of the apartments will be built in buildings with three or more apartments, spanning 66.6 square metres on average.

Most apartments will be built in the Belgrade region (38.7 percent), Srem region (14 percent), Južna Bačka region (7.4 percent) and Zlatibor region (5.1 percent).
