Novi Sad is the 2019 European Youth Capital

The city of Novi Sad was declared last night the 2019 European Youth Capital. With the recently given title of the 2012 European Capital of Culture, Novi Sad is now the only city in Europe to “wear the double crown”.

Novi Sad Mayor Milos Vucevic said that that was yet more great news for the town.

“After winning the title of the 2021 European Capital of Culture, Novi Sad is victorious yet again. We were declared the 2019 European Youth Capital at the competition in Varna, Bulgaria. This is a double win for Novi Sad”, the mayor said.

“This is a big deal for Novi Sad and its youth. This is also a big deal for our university. We are going to have two years packed full of great events. I would like to congratulate the citizens of Novi Sad, particularly the young people of Novi Sad and the town’s youth associations and organizations”, Vucevic added.

A month ago, in Brussels, Novi Sad was declared the 2021 European Capital of Culture and is now the only European town to hold two titles – the European Capital of Culture and the European Youth Capital.
