As previously announced, the Belgrade-Novi Sad high-speed rail section is expected to be operational in November 2021 with trains running at a speed of 200km per hour.
The price of the train ticket will just slightly go up – says the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlović.
The Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section will cost 580 million dollars to construct, while the Belgrade – Novi Sad section will cost 850 million dollars.
The construction of the Cortanovci tunnel and viaduct is part of the project of the construction of the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway segment from Stara Pazova to Novi Sad, which is 40.4 kilometres. The total length of both tubes of the Cortanovci tunnel is 2,242 meters.

The tunnel passes through complex mining and geological compositions and from the north side, the tunnel exits into a landslide area on the edge of the Fruška Gora National Park.
The value of the construction of the Cortanovci tunnel and viaduct, financed with a loan from the Russian Federation, is 337.6 million dollars. The works started in August 2017.
The director of RZD International in Serbia, Mansurbek Sultanov, announced that the entire railway section from Stara Pazova to Novi Sad will be completed by the deadline, which is November 2021.
