Non-working days during Easter holidays

Easter is one of the most important Christian holidays and this year is celebrated on April 24 according to the Julian calendar and April 17 according to the Gregorian calendar.

Easter is always celebrated on a Sunday and not before April 4 or after May 8. In 2025, Catholic and Eastern Orthodox believers will celebrate Easter on the same day – April 20.

According to the church calendar, Easter is celebrated over three days. This year, Catholics will celebrate Easter from 15 to 18 April, 2022, which means that Friday, April 15, and Monday, April 18, 2022, are non-working days.

The Eastern Orthodox believers will not have to go to work from Friday, April 22 to Monday, April 25, 2022. Shops will open as usual on Saturday and Monday. 1st May Labour Day will mean an extended weekend for everyone who works because they will have 4 days off in a row.

This year, spring break for schoolchildren will begin on Friday, April 22 and end on Tuesday, May 3, so the first day of school will be on May 4.
