Nis: Aster to open textile factory

The opening of the Aster Textile factory on the premises of the former Ei Holding in Nis is expected to take place on October 19, says a member of the City Council in charge of economy and environmental protection, Mihajlo Zdravkovic. The Turkish investor plans to employ 2,000 people in the factory in the next few years. Currently, Aster Textile has 300 workers in Nis.

Zdravkovic says that a contract with a large automotive company on the construction of their factory across from the Penitentiary-Correctional Facility will be signed soon. The facility is probably going to have 2,200 workers.

– Taking into consideration the Memorandum signed a few months ago with IMI, which plans to employ 1,250 people, the number of announced new jobs is considerable – he says.

– We are near to closing the negotiations with three large electronics companies. If they also choose Nis, I believe that the unemployment in the city will be significantly reduced and that our competitiveness will increase, and with it the standard of workers as well. I would also like to urge our citizens, especially the young ones,  to have a ittle more time and patience – he adds.
