A new phase of works is due to begin at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, involving the construction of additional airport facilities and airport infrastructure.
Specifically, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has issued location requirements to the airport for the reconstruction and adaptation of part of Passenger Terminal 1, including the transformer substation, in order to create a new third exit from the international departure lounge for remote parking stands (BUS-GATE A7c). These requirements are necessary for the preparation of the conceptual design, in accordance with the Detailed Regulation Plan for the Belgrade airport complex.
“When designing and constructing new facilities, as well as reconstructing existing passenger terminal buildings, a high aesthetic standard must be achieved, given the attractive nature of the purpose and the representative position within the airport complex,” the ministry document states.
Within the zone, the plan includes core airport terminal facilities intended for the arrival and departure of passengers and baggage, accompanying airport facilities related to passenger control and security, technical and administrative facilities necessary for the functioning of the airport terminal, as well as service and commercial amenities appropriate to the terminal’s primary function (cafés, restaurants, shops, duty-free stores, offices of travel agencies, airlines, and similar services).
The location planned for adaptation and reconstruction is part of the internal ground-floor area of Finger Corridor A in the terminal building. The facility is situated along the main access road within the airport complex and is intended for international passenger traffic.
Given that the waiting area for remote parking stands (BUS-GATE A7) currently has two exits (A7a and A7b), the adaptation project envisages the creation of a third exit and the formation of a unified waiting area with a total of three identical exits. The adaptation and reconstruction works will be carried out on the existing structure, within its current dimensions, volume, and existing capacities. The refurbishment of the waiting area is planned within the interior of the building, together with the introduction of a new exit on the façade facing the runway, affecting both the functional layout of the space and the finishing works in line with its intended purpose.
The international waiting area will include a counter with accompanying equipment, one glass partition, and two retractable barriers. The installation of a pedestrian safety barrier for passengers in the pedestrian walkway zone outside the building is also planned.
