New Year’s Eve celebrations in towns across Serbia

Most towns and cities in Serbia have already announced their New Year’s Eve entertainment programme which usually takes place in central squares.  

Singers Željko Joksimović, Jelena Tomašević and Marko Louis are the main stars of the New Year’s Eve celebration at the Sava Promenade in Belgrade.

On December 31st, there will also be a spectacular laser show, musical performances and fireworks in front of the Belgrade Tower, the highest building in the region.

The singer Teodora Džehverović will perform in concert in front of the House of National Assembly, while DJ Mike Ride will perform at 20:00, followed by Zera at 21:00, Gazda Paja at 21:45 and Nući and Voyage from 22:30 onwards.

The Milan Mladenović Foundation will hold a tribute concert with the songs of the iconic Serbian band Ekaterina Velika in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art on December 30th.

The famed folk singer Haris Džinović will perform in Niš on New Year’s Eve, while a few days before that, there will be a children’s programme that will last for several days.

Serbian bands Francuska Sobarica, Uroš i Nejaki, and the Jimi Hendrix tribute band called Electric Universe will entertain the residents of Zrenjanin on December 31st.

The New Year’s Eve celebration in Kragujevac is all about the music from the 1980s with one of the best Yugoslav rock bands from that era – Divlje Jagode – performing, in addition to bands such as Tribe and Vesela Mašina.

Novi Sad has decided to greet the New Year in electronic music style with Stereo MCs and Kosheen performing, in addition to Serbian indie bands such as Repetitori, Obojeni Program, and Monohrom. The Novi Sad citizens will also be able to listen to the music of the famous Iranian-born singer, Sevdaliza, the violinist Lajko Felix and Serbian entry for this year’s Eurovision song contest. Several towns like Vranje and Šabac will not have an organized New Year’s Eve celebration, while Novi Pazar has decided to give the money originally intended for the public New Year’s Eve celebration to humanitarian purposes.
