The Parliamentary Council for Spatial Planning and Traffic has adopted in principle a proposal to amend the law on rail transport contracts, which provides for more rights for passengers in the event of train delays.
According to the proposal, when a train is delayed by more than an hour, passengers will be able to ask for a refund of their ticket money.
If the train is delayed by between 60 and 119 minutes, passengers are entitled to a 25 per cent refund, and if it is delayed by more than two hours, they will be entitled to 50 per cent of the ticket money, reports Tanjug news agency.
The national railway company, Srbija Voz, will be given a transitional period of two years to start applying these changes in the law.
