Belgrade’s urban planning chief, Marko Stojcic says that the area in the Republic Square (Trg Republike), which is currently occupied by the Staklenac shopping mall, is not big enough for having an opera building, as it was originally announced and suggests that the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra should have its concerts in Novi Beograd’s Block 13.
Stojcic says that that is just an idea, since the competition for the design of a concert hall, to be located between Palata Srbija and Ušće shopping mall, is yet to be launched.
“We are planning to build a multifunctional culture facility in the Republic Square, with an underground garage and a subway station nearby. We will conduct a poll among the citizens and culture workers to see what they would like to have in that location,” Stojcic adds.

Furthermore, Belgrade mayor, Zoran Radojicic met with his Moscow counterpart, Sergey Sobyanin to discuss, among other things, building a park in Belgrade to resemble the famous Moscow park Zaryadye, Moscow’s assistance in the construction of the Belgrade subway and improvement of healthcare services in the capital. The park is supposed to be located in Lower Dorćol, in the area between Beton Hala and Pančevo Bridge.
Zaryadye Park is located in the very centre of Moscow. The massive project cost the city 13 billion rubles ($223.9 million) to implement. The park has a bridge without single support, a tundra forest, a non-melting glacier, a concert hall, a year-round amphitheatre and a medieval street,
