The Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, stated today that the new Law on Planning and Construction will speed up the process of issuing building permits and bring “greater transparency and faster procedures.”
In an interview with Kurir, he mentioned that the process of issuing building permits will be accelerated by allowing project bureaus to issue permits for buildings up to a certain square footage, adding that that is “common practice in many countries around the world.”
“We are also considering simplifying the issuance of usage permits by transferring that responsibility to those conducting the technical inspections. We want to introduce a high-quality and effective law, which is why we are very open to hearing suggestions from all those involved in the construction process during the public debate, which will last at least six months, to help us reach the best legal solutions for the country and its citizens,” Vesić said.
