The local authorities in Pirot want to lease the assets of the former textile giant AHA Mura Prvi Maj in individual segments.
The company has declared bankruptcy several years ago, and its assets are now controlled by a bankruptcy trustee. The plan is to lease the buildings and other immovable assets of Prvi Maj to interested investors.
Several investors from Romania, Turkey and Bulgaria have already submitted their letters of interest saying that they would be interested in leasing out parts of the Prvi Maj’s production and storage facilities, and create up to 1,000 new jobs.
In other news, a Tel Aviv based company, Danbar Group has expressed its interest in building a waste water filtering facility in Kladovo that would, at first, hire 30 workers. The President of the Municipality of Kladovo, Radisav Cuculanovic has met with co-owner of Danbar, Moran Tsimchi to discuss not only building the said facility, but the Israeli company making investments in energy and agriculture in the area.
“The Danbar Corporation has 20 companies located in Germany, The Czech Republic and The Netherlands, and is very interested to invest in Serbia. Not only are we prompted to do this because of the good relations between our two countries, but also because the business environment in Kladovo meets our standards”, Mr. Tsimchi said.
