‘Museums for 10’ event to be held from 12 to 18 May

The Muzeji za 10 event (‘Museums for 10’) will be held for the seventh time, from 12 to 18 May, in 50 cities and towns across Serbia.

Over 90 museums and other institutions will host the event, while the 17th European Night of Museums, the International Day of Museums and the Week of National Museums will also take place at the same time, under the auspices of Museums for 10.

At the press conference announcing the event, Deputy Minister for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and Digitisation, Danijela Vanušić, has said that the pandemic has created a new museum audience and the challenge it has placed before museums has been a turning point for museums as the staff has proved to be creative and capable, as evidenced by the extremely high number of virtual visitors.

“Out of 149 museums, more than 100 will participate in this year’s event or 2/3 of all museums in the country, which is a record number so far,” Vanušić said, adding that museums have coped well with the challenges in 2020, bearing in mind that state museums were only closed to visitors for a month and a half.
