Montenegrin PM’s brother and Serbian PM’s wife to open a clinic at former BIGZ building

The companies Marera Real Estate Partners and Marera Properties, founded by Russian nationals, that bought the BIGZ building in Belgrade in February last year, are allegedly linked to the Serbian Finance Minister Siniša Mali.

“The final price (of the building) has never been publicly disclosed, but available information indicates that the building, which was declared a cultural monument under state protection in 1992, was paid around EUR 3.7 million,” says journalist Predrag Popović.

Now, there are plans for a medical clinic to be opened in the building, owned by Džihan Abazović, brother of Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic, and Milica Đurđić, partner of Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić.

“We’ve know for a long time in Serbia that the brothers Siniša and Predrag Mali, have very good cooperation with Ana Brnabić and her brother Igor and that they are partners in various business deals. They have recently bought several buildings and companies in Belgrade. The most important building is the Beogradjanka in 2020. Last year, BIGZ was sold for 3.7 million euros. And now, part of that space is earmarked for a clinic, which is supposed to be opened by Milica Đurđić, Ana Brnabić’s partner, and Džihan Abazović, Dritan Abazović’s brother,’ Popović explains.

“Although the companies Marera Real Estate Partners and Marera Properties are registered in Russia, the names of the owners on paper are not known to the public in Serbia,” says Popović who adds that the founders are connected to Finance Minister Siniša Mali.

“Many of them (there is a list of ten names), mean nothing to us, but two of these people have been partners of Siniša Mali in his offshore companies, so there is no doubt that they are directly connected to him,” Popović concludes.
