The High Representative of the European Union, Federica Mogherini said that she was expecting the new phase of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina to be successful.
After the meeting with the Serb PM, Ana Brnabic and the European Commissioner, Johannes Hahn, Mogherini said that during the first round, the talks will focus on the creation of the Association of Serb Communes and the implementation of the agreements that have been reached.
Mogherini said that Serbia’s path toward the EU integration is reached through the normalization of relations with Kosovo, adding that domestic dialogue for Kosovo is of a special importance.
The Serb PM has requested that Pristina should initiate the agreement for the Association of Serb Communes, as a key condition for the success of the dialogue and the normalization of relations with Belgrade.
In the meantime, Kosovo’s PM, Ramush Haradinaj will be in Brussels today to participate in the Council of Stabilization and Association between Kosovo and the EU.
It is not yet known if the Prime Minister of Kosovo will meet with his counterpart in Brussels, nevertheless, Haradinaj said a few days ago that he has no problems meeting Brnabic and discuss on different topics concerning both countries.
On the other hand, Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic said in Arandjelovac that the EU “will not allow Serbia to become a full member without a legally binding document at the end of the process of normalizing relations with Pristina.”
“You need to normalize the situation, as they put it,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday, according to Tanjug, and added that, “however you interpret it, that is what the EU expects.”
