Modest growth of the number of issued building permits

The number of building permits issued in Serbia in February increased by 0.6% year-on-year, reaching 1,797, the State Statistical Office (RZS) said on Monday.

The total estimated value of the planned projects covered by the issued permits decreased by 21% year-on-year in February, the statistical office said in a statement.

If we consider only buildings, 77.2 percent of permits were issued for residential buildings and 22.8 percent for non-residential buildings, while the majority of other permits pertain to pipelines, communication and electrical lines (65.8 percent).

Also, 2,169 requests for land conversion were submitted and with one in four requests pertaining to the construction of residential and office buildings.

In January, the number of permits increased by 3% year-on-year, to 1,615, while the estimated value of the projects increased by 19.1%.

In 2023, the number of building permits issued in Serbia rose by 6.4%.
