“How is it possible to invest a billion euros in 35 years and then announce an investment worth half that amount over the next five years? What I can say is that our experience and our results enable us to make those investments. In the agrarian sector, we plan an increase in the production and exports, whereas, in tourism, we expect to have 5,000 hotel rooms under our management, and we are halfway through”, Dusan Radicevic, the financial director of MK Group, says and adds that the Group will keep focusing on the region in the banking sector.
Radicevic reminds that, in the past period, MK Group has opened the Sheraton Hotel in Novi Sad, became the majority owner of the Portoroz Airport and increased its stake in Gorenjska Banka.
“We are now finalizing the strategic decision on the merging of our member-companies MK Commerce and Agroglobe. We are determined to strengthen our leading position in our key areas of operation in Southeast Europe in the upcoming years”, he added.
The director of Agroglobe, Bozidar Kostic, said that the company was the biggest exporter of cereals from Serbia and that they expected their export to increase in 2019. He added that Agroglobe had 7,000 small subcontractors and 300 large ones at the moment.
The President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC), Marko Čadež says that the companies that operate under MK Group are the “pillar of the future development and growth” of the country.
“MK is one of our biggest exporters and is present on the territory of the whole of former Yugoslavia, and it contributes to the Serbian budget with 109 million euro in paid taxes and contributions annually,” said Čadež.
EBRD Regional Director for agribusiness sector in Central and Southeastern Europe, Miljan Ždrale reminds that companies such as MK Group are important drivers of the economy and economic growth in the markets of the Adriatic region.
