The aim of this extraordinary inspection supervision is to execute a thorough control of the documentation and the structure of the bridges.
The Ministry’s press release says that public enterprises Infrastructure of Serbian Railways (Infrastruktura Zeleznice Serbia) and Roads of Serbia (Putevi Srbije) regularly control all bridges on railroads, motorways and regional roads, in line with their individual competences.
The extraordinary inspection was ordered a day after the tragedy in Genoa, Italy, where several dozen people were killed when a motorway bridge collapsed.
