The Serbian Ministry of Economy has announced that it has signed an agreement for the sale of 92% of the Jaroslav Černi Water Management Institute to the Millennium Team Company and the consortium comprising seven directors of that institute, at a price of some EUR 2.58 million.
The starting price expressed in a public tender held on 25 November was EUR 2.57 million. The Bauwesen Company, based in Lazarevac, also participated in the tender, and gave a lower bid.
Millennium Team had offered the directors of the Institute to jointly participate in the privatisation. The experts contested the justification for privatising the Institute, which had been a profitable organization, employing about 300 people, of which 17 doctors of science.
Millennium Team has been given several very profitable deals from the state, from gas system installation to the construction of Belgrade Waterfront, from the construction of apartments for security services to the purchase of spa hotels. According to media reports, the owners of the company are close to the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
