Mihajlovic: We will contract 3.2-bln-EUR worth of jobs with China

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic stated that the Serbian delegation, with PM Aleksandar Vucic at its helm, would sign two agreements and one contract, worth a total of EUR 3.2 billion, during their visit to China.

Mihajlovic said for RTS Journal that it was important for Serbia to be a part of a project as big as “One Road, One Belt”, which, she added, involves the majority of the most important countries of the world.

– The agreements pertain to a section of the Preljina-Boljare highway and the Fruska Gora Corridor. The contract pertains to the modernization of the Belgrade-Budapest railway on the section from Novi Sad to Subotica, the value of which is USD 700 million. The total value of the projects we are working on and will continue to work on with China is EUR 5.6 billion. That’s a large amount of money and we are doing everything in our power to make room for our companies to take part in building Serbia – the minister noted.

Mihajlovic said that she hoped that the works on the section of the Novi Sad-Subotica railway would begin in 2017.

– The completion of the modernization of the Belgrade-Budapest railway can be expected in two, two and half years, and this is the biggest project in the region – the minister pointed out.
