Deputy PM and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic met with the CEO of Turkish Eximbank, Adnan Yildirim to discuss Turkey’s support in construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway, and rehabilitation of roads in Raska County.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Serbia, Tanju Bilgic, is a continuation of talks started during the official visit of the Turkish president, Tayyip Erdogan to Serbia who discussed the same topic with his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vucic.
Mihajlovic said that, in order for the rehabilitation of the roads connecting Novi Pazar to Tutin and Sjenica to start, it is vital that the Turkish bank provides the best possible financing terms and conditions since the project documents had already been drawn up.
“In regard to the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway, we already know which route the motorway is going to take in Serbia. It will be a continuation of the Corridor 11 segment near Pozega where we need to build another 60km of roads stretching to the state border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is very important for us that, following the signing of a letter of intent, Turkey has decided to get more actively involved in the implementation of this project”, Mihajlovic added.
Yildirim underlined that Turkish construction companies had a wealth of experience in implementing infrastructure projects, and that they were known for the quality of their work.
