The Deputy PM and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic has met with the Italian ambassador to Serbia, Giuseppe Manzo to discuss the cooperation between the two countries and Italy’s support to Serbia’s EU aspirations.
The ambassador said that the Italian companies that he had a chance to talk to recently expressed interest in new projects in Serbia. He also said that the Italian companies which were planning to come to Serbia wanted to do their business in the best way possible, and that to him, as the Italian ambassador, regular communication with the Government, in that respect, meant a lot.
Mihajlovic and Manzo also discussed the potential for boosting cooperation under the Western Balkans 6 initiative, especially in the light of the recent Western Balkan Leaders Summit which took place in Trieste in mid-July.
The Deputy PM went on to say that the Transport Community Agreement, which was signed in Trieste, was very important for all Balkan countries since it would provide a link between transport markets and improve investments in infrastructure in the region.
The two officials also talked about boosting cooperation on concrete projects in construction and infrastructure in Serbia on which Italian companies were engaged.
“We expect all companies that operate in Serbia, whether Italian or from some other country or our own, to do their job properly and within set deadlines”, Mihajlovic added.
