Commenting on the possibility of withdrawing €760 million from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under special rights, Serbian Finance Minister, Siniša Mali, said that he was “still thinking about it”.
“It is a programme for all members, but we are still thinking about whether to take those funds. If we take that money, it will be used to pay past debts, as the interest is extremely favourable,” Mali told Prva TV, adding that “with that money, we would settle old expensive debts and leave clean state budget for the coming generations”.
“A new IMF delegation will arrive in Serbia in October to show their support for all the reforms we are implementing,” the minister added.
