Finance Minister Siniša Mali announced in the Parliament yesterday that, under the auspices of the reform of the Tax Administration, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, taxpayers will be able to pay all their taxes in one go, to a single account.
Responding to an MP’s question whether advance payment of taxes would be possible, Mali said it was not possible at the current time but that the new system would allow it. “Now we have over 184 laws and bylaws that regulated payment of various fees, levies and taxes, and we want to have just one. There will be one law regulating all taxes in a year and a half or two, and through a special algorithm we will categorize all payments.”
Mali continued: “This is a big reform. We are working hard on it, and by the end of 2023, I am sure that this system will take off.”
The reforms in the Tax Administration are already being implemented and the system will be such that taxpayers will be able to access their account at the Tax Administration via a mobile phone in a secure manner and immediately receive information on what they owe to the state, as well as pay their taxes via a very simplified procedure.
