The Canadian company Magna Seating has a car seat covers factory in Aleksinac (central Serbia) that will employ 800 people.
The company had been operating in a rented warehouse in Aleksinac since June last year and, after a few months, began preparations for the construction of its own plant, a branch of the Odzaci plant. The first Magna plant in Serbia was opened in Odzaci in 2013, which currently has close to 1,800 workers.
In the first phase of the opening of the Aleksinac plant, the hall of the disused area was renovated and the first 100 workers trained in Odzaci were hired in March and April last year. The second phase of the investment involved the construction of a new production hall, i.e. a greenfield investment.
The opening of the Aleksinac plant was attended by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who said that the Magna Company contributes to the economic development of Serbia, while the company’s representatives underlined that they are satisfied with the conditions for doing business in Serbia and that the automotive industry has slowed down a bit due to the world crisis in the production of microchips.
