Italy and France are trying to take a positive approach towards Serbia when it comes to European integration, Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut said today.
“They (Italy) most often stand on that path, that is definite, and of course they will try, in cooperation with France and Germany, to act as mediators who will certainly influence the creation of future political plans in Europe,” Đuro Macut stated.
While in Italy, Macut attended a reception organised by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the occasion of the Winter Olympic Games being held in Cortina. In addition to meeting Meloni, Macut also spoke with US Vice President J.D. Vance and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, RTS reports.
“We are on the path to EU accession, and many leaders are already saying this quite clearly. The President of Estonia, with whom I had the opportunity to speak, fully understands that Europe must in some way politically adapt to the situation it is in, and that the conflict that it effectively has on its doorstep, which has been going on for four years between Russia and Ukraine, must be stopped and that a solution must be found,” Macut said.
