Flixbus, a land transport counterpart to Ryanair, is interested in operating in Serbia and will contact local companies for cooperation this spring, the Blic writes.
Flixbus is a German startup known for years in the EU for providing low-cost bus transport services. Modeled after Ryanair, the company charges only EUR 9 for the Zagreb-Berlin route.
– The arrival of Flixbus will lead to a major reorganization of the local intercity transport. They will pick a local company, take several buses and re-brand them. Also, our drivers will be working for the company – says Sasa Conic, editor-in-chief of Autobusi.net.
The company sells tickets through its mobile app. Passengers have to install the app, log in, pay for the ticket online and get a code number.
Flixbus drivers operate a device which reads out the mobile phone code numbers. Passengers can choose between free-of charge seat reservation and free luggage transport. They may also cancel the reservation 15 minutes ahead of the departure.
