London’s CapVest officially becomes the new owner of Hemofarm

London-based investment firm CapVest Partners LLP announced on the last day of March that it has completed the acquisition of a majority stake in STADA Arzneimittel AG, a German pharmaceutical company specialising in consumer healthcare products, generics, and specialty medicines.

With this acquisition, the pharmaceutical company Hemofarm, based in Vršac and operating as part of the STADA Group, has officially gained a new owner, reports eKapija.

STADA acquired the privately owned Hemofarm in 2006. In 2017, STADA itself came under the majority ownership of funds Bain Capital (USA) and Cinven (United Kingdom), which purchased around 63% of shares worth approximately €4.1 billion, while the company was simultaneously delisted from the stock exchange.

The process of STADA’s acquisition by CapVest Partners LLP began with the signing of a binding agreement in September 2025, followed by the necessary regulatory approvals.

In a statement, the London-based fund noted that, following strong performance in 2025, the completion of the transaction will enable an acceleration of STADA’s global growth, as well as further investment in organic development and new acquisitions.

STADA employs around 12,000 people worldwide and recorded revenues of €4.3 billion last year, representing growth of 6%, along with a record adjusted EBITDA of €961 million.
