Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar said that Serbia, as a member of the United Nations, will respect the decision of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to remove marijuana from the list of narcotics, and said that Serbia is already working on that.
At a joint press conference with North Macedonia’s Health Minister, Venko Filipcet, Loncar said there was no reason for Serbia not to comply with the UN decision, reports Tanjug news agency.
“We are already dealing with this issue and we, as a UN member, will respect their guidelines,” Loncar said.
He added that decisions in this regard will be made by the country’s top experts and underlined that the legalization of marijuana (for medicinal purposes) is an extremely sensitive topic.
“Our experts are in contact with the UN and will find a solution but it will take time,” the Minister concluded.
