Korea’s Kyungshin to open a factory in Smederevska Palanka – 1,000 new jobs

Representatives of the South Korean company Kyungshin, one of the companies that operate under the Kyungshin Cables Group, have visited Smederevska Palanka.

The Korean company plans to build an automotive electronic components factory in which it intends to invest EUR 24 million and employ 1,000 workers, the website of the Municipality of Smederevska Palanka says.

The working meeting of the municipal authorities and Kyungshin was held in the premises of the municipality of Smederevska Palanka. In addition to the representatives of Kyungshin, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Development Agency of Serbia and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, as well as the presidents of the municipalities of Smederevska Palanka and Velika Plana, Nikola Vucen and Igor Matkovic. After the working meeting, the investors visited the Guberas Industrial Zone.

Thanks to the Development Agency of Serbia, the representatives of the Korean company visited several locations in Serbia and this was their second time in Smederevska Palanka.

“In addition to the importance it has for Smederevska Palanka and Velika Plana, this investment will also be very important for the rest of Serbia, as it will be a good sign for other Korean investors who are considering Serbia as an investment destination. Korean investments have contributed a lot to the development of central Europe and countries like Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary, where a large number of them has been made. In Smederevska Palanka, the company would produce battery components for electric vehicles,” said the adviser for economic affairs and investments at the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, Mihailo Pavlovic.

The deputy director-general of Kyungshin, Won Ju Hye, pointed out that her impressions of Smederevska Palanka were very positive and that she hoped for future cooperation.
