President of the People’s Party, Vuk Jeremic assessed that the letter that the US President Donald Trump sent to the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, clearly proves that secret diplomacy has been at work all the time in order to reach a solution for the Kosovo problem.
“If anyone had a dilemma about whether it was true that the games behind the scenes would quickly come to an end, this letter says it all,” wrote Jeremic at his Twitter profile.
Jeremic, who is the former Serbian foreign minister, added that “the American president would not write an official letter on the White House letterhead that stated that the negotiations were about to end if that was not the case.”
He recalled that he had publicly disclosed information on the secret meetings of Serbian and Kosovo Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci respectively, in Paris, New York and Rome, as well as talked about the role that the former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair had in lobbying for the parties to accept the demarcation plea.
Jeremic also wrote that neither Vucic or Thaci rebutted that information when it came out and that the two of them agreed beforehand to mention Jeremic’s name at the UN session.
Furthermore, Jeremic wondered how come the UN Security Council was discussing Kosovo when the entire issue was entrusted to the EU.
Speaking about the formation of the Kosovo armed forces at the UN on Monday, Thaci said that “the ruling of the International Justice Court, following the request of the then Serbian Foreign Minister, Vuk Jeremic, clearly states that by declaring its independence Kosovo did not break any international law, hence it is Kosovo’s inviolable right to form an army.”
