Japan’s NTT Data wants to develop smart cities in Serbia

The Serbian Prime Minister, Miloš Vučević, met with the representatives of the Japanese company NTT Data and a delegation of Japan’s Embassy to talk about new investments and opportunities to boost the cooperation between the two countries.

Vučević said that the potential for cooperation with the Japanese IT company was primarily related to the EXPO 2027 project, in areas such as cyber security, construction of digital platforms and development of smart cities.

The ambassador of Japan, Akira Imamura, confirmed that NTT Data wanted to develop smart cities that used potential of technology and innovation, together with other resources, to promote sustainable development and, as the ultimate goal, ensure improvement of the citizens’ lives.

Ambassador Imamura also underlined that a significant number of Japanese companies were interested in doing business in Serbia, which is facilitated by Serbia’s focus on biotechnology and artificial intelligence.

Vučević pointed out that Serbia had excellent business climate, especially for investments in the field of information technologies and that the country was the leader in the region in innovative technologies and artificial intelligence.

Our information technology sector has been recording a permanent growth in recent years and thus is becoming one of the most promising and most attractive industries in Serbia – he stated.
