Immunologist Srdja Jankovic said that the epidemiological situation in Serbia is favourable.
Although the number of recently discovered cases is slowly decreasing, the contagion curve and the tail of the epidemic will continue.
Jankovic told RTS that he hopes that there will be no new cases in summer.
Jankovic added that all the measures in force, as well as all the recommendations, are still of fundamental importance in order to end the epidemic properly. He also underlined that the number of cases would have fallen more if there had been no new outbreaks.

He went on to say that we should not rush in thinking that the epidemic is over as long as there are populations categories that are highly vulnerable to contracting the virus.
He added that the number of deceased people is lagging well-behind the number of infected people because the disease has been going on for a long time. He also said that the percentage of cases with a milder clinical picture is increasing and that the number of asymptomatic cases is growing too.
Speaking about the coronavirus cases in Zajecar, Jankovic said that the people who were in contact with them are also being tested and that the contagion in Zajecar will probably remain localized.
