As of December this year, women with health insurance in Serbia will be able to go through in vitro fertilization with donated reproductive material, announced the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
This, he added, applies to all women up to the age of 45 who cannot have children naturally and do not have a partner, or whose spouses cannot have children.
“The costs (of this treatment) are high – 7,000 euros per person, but we are going to take that step. If 1,500 women a year go through this procfedure, that’s about 10 million euros on an annual basis. This is big and important news, above all for all the wonderful ladies who want to exercise their parental rights,” said Vučić.
He added that once IVF with donated reproductive material starts in Serbia, in terms of in vitro fertilization rights, maybe only Israel will be ahead of Serbia.
