Italy approves a 100mn-euro-loan to Serbia for decarbonization

Five agreements have been signed at the Trieste Business Forum, and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the national investment fund and development bank of the Italian Republic has approved a loan of EUR 100 million to the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) which will go toward decarbonization process in Serbia.

Also, an agreement between Telekom Serbia and the Italian company Sace has been signed, which plans to specialize in supporting local companies, especially small and medium ones, which want to grow in Italy and the global market. The agreement will be worth between EUR 150 to 200 million. In return, the Serbian state company will give advantages to Italian companies, especially when it comes to cooperation in the IT sector, commercial distribution and purchase and sales of television rights, reports the Italian news agency Agenzia nova.

Sace has also signed another agreement, which includes a guarantee for a loan of 160 million of the total amount of EUR 200 million, which will be paid to the Serbian Ministry of Finance, to boost commercial relations, especially in transport and tourism, telecommunications, energy and IT sector. 

Simest, a company which supports the growth of Italian companies through the internationalization of their business, will sign an agreement with the Development Agency of Serbia (RAS) which aims to develop and strengthen the relations between the two countries, promoting the joint investment possibilities.

Finally, Finest, a company engaged in business internationalization activities of the Italian North-East companies, and the RAS signed an agreement to the end of strengthening the bilateral cooperation through the exchange of information and experiences, seminars and staff training, regular consultations, invitations to events and the organization of a joint discussion about business opportunities.
