Giovanni Antonioli, director of the Italian knitwear production company, Olimpias Knitting, which production facility in Niš employs more than 700 workers, announced the expansion of the factory’s capacity and the hiring of another 240 employees.
In talks with the mayor of Niš, Dragan Sotirovski, Mr Antonioli noted that the company produces about 12,000 pieces of knitwear per day, as well as the latest models of protective masks.
According to the website of the Niš administration, Sotirovski said he was ready to improve cooperation and speed up the resolution of all administrative procedures that come under the city’s jurisdiction.

At the meeting, the Italian company expressed its interest in the implementation of dual education in collaboration with the city authorities, well as for better use of the Niš-Bergamo air route.
Currently, about 1,200 employees of Olimpias Knitting work in the premises of the former Niteks factory. Overall, Italian companies in Serbia employ around 30,000 workers.
