Information about queues at border crossings soon available online

Since the summer and holiday season in Serbia have officially started, people travelling abroad will be able to check how long are the queues at the border crossings Presevo and Gradina in real time, on the official websites of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Serbia (AMSS), since both border crossings will soon have cameras installed.

MUP announces that cameras have already been installed at the Batrovci border crossing, which has seen the longest queues, and the plan is for another three border crossings to get video-surveillance including the crossings at the border with Macedonia and Bulgaria.

This will help drivers to check how long are queues on any given border crossing, in real time, on MUP and AMSS websites before embarking on their trip.

Mirko Butulija, president of AMSS, says that the cameras will facilitate travelling, and reminds that drivers can already learn about the situation on the roads and the border crossing by going on the AMSS website or dialling the 1987 number.

Butulija announces that an app which will provide drivers with all the necessary info about the situation at border crossings will be made soon.

In 2016, a total of 64 million travellers passed through the 75 border crossings in Serbia, Rebic says, and the number increased by 6.5% last year.
