The population in Serbia decreases on average by about 35,400 people every year, according to the latest analysis of the National Statistical Office (RZS).
In Serbia, in the first 10 months of this year, the demographic decrease amounted to about 40,000 people, namely 53,082 children were born, 585 more than in the same period last year, and about 93,000 people died which is 470 more relative to the same period last year.
According to the Deputy Director of RSZ, Dusan Gavrilovic, in the period from 2005 to 2018, the average annual birthrate was 67,364 and the average mortality rate was 102,797.
“Every year, the population of Serbia decreases on average by about 35,400 people,” he said.

If we take into account the data from the European Statistical Office, Eurostat shows that about 50,000 people leave Serbia every year, which means, in 12 months, the country will have lost about 90,000 inhabitants.
