In the first 7 months of this year, the job market in Serbia experienced a real expansion because there was a greater demand for workers, i.e. 56% more than in 2020 and 30% more than in 2019, announced the Poslovi Infostud job search site.
In the first half of the year, according to the site, 36,573 job ads were published, which is 13,000 more than in the previous year. Most of the advertised jobs are those in retail and sales, IT, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, administration, but positions in warehouses, catering, food preparation and construction.
The list of most popular vacancies included sales staff, drivers, accountants, telephone operators and administrative employees. In 60% of advertised jobs, the employer wanted to hire people with a higher technical education.
At the same time, 40 per cent of the job vacancies were for those job seekers who have a high school diploma or Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees.
In the first 7 months of this year, the total number of people looking for their first or new job on the Infostud website stood at 173,342, a 12% increase compared to last year.
As far as individual trades are concerned, the deficit is growing year on year, so there the demand still outweighs the supply of cooks, waiters, hairdressers, car mechanics, drivers, warehouse workers, machine operators and carpenters.
